The article deals with topical issues related to the regulation of the institution of appeal at the stage of preliminary investigation. Based on the analysis of modern law enforcement practice and theoretical provisions of the doctrine, separate problems in the legal regulation of this type of appeal have been identified. The paper also suggests possible ways to improve the relevant criminal procedural norms. The article is published to broaden the readership in relation to previously developed proposals.
