The article provides a comparative analysis concerning design of suspended optical cables to show that self-supporting cables with power elements made of high-molecular threads have undeniable advantages in terms of design and operational characteristics in comparison with cables with a central module. It is shown therefor that the main reason for the «pulling» of optical fibers from the optical coupling into the module is the tensile force influence in the suspended single-module cable. It is also demonstrated that correctly implemented value of excess fiber length in a single-module cable and the necessary technological reserve length of the cable at the optical coupling will make it possible to avoid «pulling out» optical fibers from the optical coupling. Practical recommendations are given for protection against «pulling out» of optical fibers from the coupling into the module during technical operations of fiber-optic communication lines using single-module cables.
