Issues in theory and practice of the adaptation and social reintegration of persons who previously served a sentence in custody

Introduction: the study investigates specifics of theory and practice of challenging issues of post-penitentiary adaptation and re-socialization of persons who previously served a sentence in custody. Materials and Methods: the materials of the study were scientific works in criminology, criminal-executive law, psychology, regulatory acts of the Russian Federation, as well as statistical data of the Main Informational and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Overall general scientific and special scientific methods were used in the work: description, method of logical understanding, generalization, analysis and synthesis, systematic approach and statistical method. Literature review: to prepare the article the opinions of scientists, processualists, practitioners on the topic of research were analyzed. Results: the challenging issue of post-penitentiary adaptation and resocialization of ex-convicts is analyzed in the article taking into account the author's position. It is concluded that there is no competent mechanism of post-penitentiary adaptation and re-socialization of persons and released from places of incarceration in Russia. Discussion and Conclusion: in order to develop a comprehensive, fundamental mechanism for accompanying ex-convicts during adaptation and re-socialization, theoretical and applied measures that should be implemented not only at the regional, but also at the federal level are proposed.
