The problems of political and military cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia

The article discusses the process of establishment of bilateral Kyrgyz-Russian relations after the collapse of the USSR, in particular, cooperation in the military and political sphere. The challenges of these relations are described. The key point of cooperation is the states' efforts to counteract the new challenges and threats: international terrorism and international drug trafficking. The author defines the basic areas of the political and military cooperation between the countries, proves its importance for securing the risk-free environment in the Central Asian region.
