The processes of the propagation of renovationist ideas and the institutionalization of the renovationist schism in the Irkutsk diocese in the materials of the soviet periodical press (using as an example the newspaper Vlast' truda)

The article is devoted to the reflection of the processes of the propagation of renovationist ideas and the institutionalization of the Renovationist Schism in the Irkutsk Diocese in the materials of the Soviet periodical press. The article deals with the publications of the newspaper Vlastʹ Truda , which was the official paper of the Irkutsk Provincial Committee of the Bolshevik Party during the period from mid-May to the end of December 1922. The whole set of publications during this time is divided into three periods: the period when events throughout Russia are covered (May-June 1922), the period when the split among the Irkutsk clergy is discussed (July-August 1922), and the period of the final registration of the split in the Irkutsk Diocese (September-December 1922). It is concluded that initially the newspaper Vlastʹ Truda covered exclusively all-Russian issues related to the Church schism. By the beginning of July 1922, the newspaper’s publications focus on Siberian and, in particular, Irkutsk-related issues, although the chronicle of all-Russian events continues to be printed, and some criticism of the split begins to be published...
