The idea of free trade was first proclaimed (and accused) by Adam Smith at the end of the 18th century. However, his ideas only work in a free economy. In the case of problematic situations, it has developed what is happening now in our country and in the world, issues of economic security, primarily food security, become relevant. In our country, the “Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation” was adopted in 2010, and since then our country has achieved considerable success: we are quite able to feed ourselves on the basis of the food received. At the same time, slipping into subsistence farming is a step back in human progress. Apparently, society will have to work out a reasonable compromise between full import substitution and the international division of labor.
