Food safety of Russia: view from cosmos

In Russia nowadays only one form of obtaining information about the state of agriculture is remained; it is interrogatory-statistical one. This fact disadvantageously distinguishes Russia from the developed countries and the USSR, where there are or there were independent methods of control, based on the materials of remote sensing of the earth. The statistical method is always a conjunctural one. To base providing food safety on not verified data is not correct at least. The use of space survey makes it possible to show that the drought of the 2010 was statistical, but not real one. Similar studies show overstating the harvest of 2014. In both cases the producers of grain attempted through the erroneously transmitted information about the harvest to achieve their own goals - lobbying the state solutions. Signals were incorrectly understood by the state that it led to losses for all sides. Food safety requires reliable knowledge about the real state of affairs. Without the revival of the independent systems of monitoring, we do not have the necessary knowledge for adopting the valid solutions.
