Project "Chukotka" as a model of social responsibility of business in a region

The problem of social responsibility of business is new for Russian practice. At present, only large corporations are beginning to formulate their strategies of relations with society, doing this mainly under pressure from the state. Civil society in Russia, due to insufficient maturity and development of its organizations, is not yet strong enough to become a strong player in the sphere of social partnership. In general, the current model of social responsibility in modern Russia can be represented as follows: society, on the one hand, generally has a negative attitude towards large corporations, and on the other, it demands business to take on that part of the social functions of the state that the government does poorly. These public sentiments are a resource of pressure on big business from the state: in exchange for social assistance, the government promises businessmen not to revise the results of privatization and provide guarantees for private property. Obviously, Russian business is just beginning to approach world standards - both in the field of management and in the field of social responsibility, therefore, the modern model of corporate social responsibility (CSR) seems to be a transitional one. At the same time, one cannot ignore the Russian specifics of this phenomenon: a lot has always depended on the position of the authorities in the development of large business in our country.
