The article considers the conceptual foundations of simulation approach as a universal methodology in cognition of the essence of educational phenomena. The article presents description of the key concepts of the game simulation and computer simulation. The features of designing a developmental information-intensive educational environment in the modern school are demonstrated in conformity with the simulation approach.
