Here we present the analysis of projective coverings of wood and shrubby vegetation based on the data of Mapping of the Wood and Shrubby Vegetation of the Second Nonmown Site of the Streletsky Steppe. The technique of the preparation and implementation of cartographical works is given, the tool base and the features of use of devices in the course of field survey is considered. Maps of placement of the bases of trunks and projective coverings of trees and bushes in different scales are made. Specific weight of the sum of projections of crowns and bushes on the Second Nonmown Site of the Streletsky steppe made more than 14%. Native species (among single plants - Pyrus pyraster Burgsd., among thickets - Prunus spinosa L.) have maximal projective coverings. The considerable share in the general projective covering is the share of the zonal forest forming species - Quercus robur L.
