The article examines the essence and specifics of the project competence of a specialist of modern cultural institutions. The focus of project competence on the formation and development of the author's professional position in the organization of socio-cultural projects, the voluntary choice of traditional and innovative forms of socio-cultural activities is shown. The role of project technologies as a kind of socio-cultural technologies in creating conditions for stimulating the socio-cultural activity of visitors to cultural institutions is revealed.
