Career guidance of students as a factor of development of human potential of territories

The problem to develop students’ readiness to making a professional choice is relevant not only for Russian education, but also for human potential of territories. The new requirements that focus on training school leavers for their future professional activity stimulate the emergence of practical models and forms of psychological and pedagogical support of professional orientation. In this regard, the monitoring of the effectiveness of such activities becomes paramount for any educational organization. This article presents the description of psychological and pedagogical support of professional self-determination of students at the ISEDT RAS Research-and-Educational Center. It justifies the urgency of problems, lists directions and forms of work in the framework of career guidance and discloses its practical significance for organizations of Vologda and the Vologda Oblast. The work presents the main results of the study of students’ attitudes, aimed at identification of occupational preferences in the 2013/2014 academic year, as well as the data on the leavers’ entry to professional educational establishments. The comparative analysis shows that the ISEDT RAS REC has developed a productive system of career guidance activities that can be used in any educational environment. In the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year the elective course “Career guidance” was introduced for the 10th form as a perspective of this study. It will help actualize the process of self-determination of pupils and develop readiness for the choice of an educational institution, career, life path that in future will influence human potential of the region.
