Professional holidays as an element of a professional orientation

Modern living conditions have particularly acutely raised the issue of the lack of highly skilled workers. The article proposes to revise the elements of vocational orientation in the interests of the develop-ment of the country’s economy as a whole and of the region in particular. The historical stages of the appearance of professional holidays are presented. The absolute majority of which, according to the author, are institutionalized in the 20th century with the emergence of the concept of “professional qualication”. The specicity of a professional holiday is expressed in its functional signicance for the professional self-determination and professional orientation of the individual, the formation of a professional and corporate culture.
