In the article the history of formation and development of the Buryat theater - from amateur to professional is considered, where the traditions of national creativity were linked with methods and principles of the Russian (European by type) theater. In the 1920s the troupes of the Moscow theater “Blue Blouse” and the Theater of Revolution were on tour in Verkhneudinsk. They made considerable impact on the activity of local youth collectives. The bright trace in the cultural life of the republic was left by the Orgteatr’s troupe of the International Red Stadium founded in 1922 in Moscow under the leadership of the director E.N. Prosvetov. At the request of the city public after finishing the tours in the cities of Siberia Orgteatr came back to Verkhneudinsk and with some breaks conducted in Buryatia three theatrical seasons. It was the first professional stationary theater that met the requirements of time. The history of the Russian Drama Theater in Buryatia began from this theater activity. In 1928 the Buryat Drama Studio was organized in Verkhneudinsk, and the Technical College of Arts was established in 1930. It became the real smithy of national personnel. In 1932 the Buryat-Mongolian Drama Theater was opened. In the article the considerable attention is paid to the First Decade of the Buryat Art and Literature in Moscow, which had a great success in 1940.
