Professor B.A. Krzhevsky in Perm University

The article considers the «Perm» period of life of the professor B.A. Krzhevsky from Petrograd. His life is studied in the context of the establishment and development of Perm University. After two years of living abroad, he was sent to Perm, where he worked from autumn 1917 till the end of 1921 - the years that were crucial in the history of Russia and the Urals. Like his predecessor, professor A.A. Smirnov, who was also a student of the academician A.N. Veselovsky, B.A. Krzhevsky taught history of West-European litera­ture and the French language. Materials of B.A. Krzhevsky's personal data file, stored in the State Archive of the Perm Region, were used while preparing the article. Not only they keep the stages of the scientist's work but also recreate the history of the university development, its staff members' way of life. B.A. Krzhevsky was one of the first philologists who contributed to the formation of higher education in the Ural region.
