The regions of the Arctic zone play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country. A huge amount of mineral resources is concentrated on the territory of the Arctic, the most important transport arteries pass through, a unique biosystem has been preserved. The article presents a forecast of the socio-economic development of the Arctic regions that are completely related to the Arctic zone: The Murmansk Region and three autonomous districts – Nenets, Yamalo-Nenets, Chukotka. The authors selected the most significant indicators characterizing the development of the regions: the unemployment rate according to the ILO methodology (%), the gross regional product index (GRP) (%), the share of fixed capital investment in the GRP of the subject (%). The analysis showed that the development of the Arctic regions is uneven, but the following trend can be traced: regions that are least dependent on natural resources can demonstrate more “successful” development and even reach the indicators of growth of the socio-economic sphere. At the same time, high unemployment in the Murmansk Region and the Nenets Autonomous District remains a serious threat to the social development of the regions.
