Upon reaching the state of mines, when they can no longer give anything, a decision is taken to eliminate them. One of the methods to eliminate mines is to flood them. In addition, mine waters are discharged from liquidated mines. During the flooding of mines and the withdrawal of mine waters there is a risk of contamination of water sources around the abandoned mines. Mine waters have a different chemical composition than rivers and surface waters. During the flooding of the abandoned mine, the composition of the water used in this process changes. To avoid potential water pollution in the area of abandoned mines, it is necessary to carry out its predictive assessment. It will allow to take into account the risk of ingress of mine waters and waters aimed at flooding the mine, into rivers, lakes, and groundwater and to minimize their pollution. Taking into account this risk, the elimination of mines will be safe for the hydrosphere in the area of mines being liquidated.
