Ford received a very grave inheritance: Watergate disgrace, huge losses in Vietnam, the second global economic crisis accompanied by the growing inflation, oil shock due to the increase of the price of petrol, high rate of unemployment etc. He had to deal with a hard task while in his office – the choice between the neo-Keynesian and neo-classical state regulations which entailed a change in the model of regulation.
