No President ever started his office with more prestige than George Washington did. Implementing the plan to transform the colony into a thriving republic, the President remained a guarantor of the unity of the nation, Constitution and security. Washington managed to establish the basis of the democracy of the American society: implementing the ideas of the Constitution with its system of checks and balances, with credit, finance and tax system; stimulating the development of industries, manufactures and plants; building roads, canals, bridges and other infrastructure constructions, and finally building the capital, Washington DC.
