This is the first study to discuss the tradition of using fabrics in the applied arts of the Nogai people in the 17th-19th centuries. The research showed that the textile treatment technique played an important role in the Nogai applied arts. Men’s and women’s clothing, hats, curtains, pillows, wallets and many other items were made of broadcloth, cotton, velvet, silk and other fabrics. The analysis of the sources revealed two main ways of producing fabrics: in-house production indicating the level of the household industry development in the subsistence economy and import of fabrics through the ongoing Nogai contacts with the trade and handicraft centers that proved the historical and cultural relationship between the Nogais and other peoples.
