In a pandemic, a situation has developed that today affects not only production in various sectors of the economy, but also the income of the population. The analysis carried out in the work showed that the decline in GDP, on the one hand, and the decrease in the disposable cash income of the population, on the other, in 2020 occurs for several reasons. Among them are the volatility of the national currency and oil prices in the context of a pandemic, as well as an increase in the costs of combating the pandemic. Compared to other countries, by the beginning of the pandemic, Russia had a minimal national debt, funds from the National Wealth Fund and large foreign exchange reserves. To restore the economy in the Russian Federation, one must focus on the reservation of funds and material and technical resources.
