This work focuses on the investigation of prosodic features of Standard Scottish English (SSE). The results of this investigation are based on the auditory and acoustic analyses of the quasi-spontaneous speech samples of television appearances of four Scottish politicians. The collected data made it possible to establish regional and gender differences of SSE in respect of its prosodic variability. The conducted research also allowed us to assess the pragmatic conditionality of prosodic patterns in political discourse and the degree of speech preparedness.
