The participation of women in the activities of social movements is an urgent topic for modern research in the history of everyday life, sociology, psychology, philosophy and cultural studies. This paper examines the activities of women writers as representatives of women's social movements. The purpose of the study was to review and evaluate their activities in prerevolutionary Russia. The objectives of the study included the analysis of the creativity of women writers within the framework of the hypothesis; identification of women writers who were members of public women's organizations, as well as the importance of their activities for the formation of a new attitude towards women in society. It has been hypothesized that women writers can be considered as representatives of women's social movements, and their activities can be analyzed as one of the forms of women's charity: the phenomenon of enlightenment cultural feminism, as part of an axiological approach; and also as the popularization of the very phenomenon of charity, represented in the literary work of women-writers of that time. In the process of writing, the value of the hypothesis was revealed, and the conclusions confirming it were given.
