Belarus 2020 protests and possible institutional transformation of their political system

The subject of this study is the institutional conditions of political processes in the coming months and years. The purpose of this work is to identify possible solutions for the development of the state of Belarus as a member of the Union State with the Russian Federation. In the course of the research, the authors use general and specific scientific methods, technologies and approaches of sociology and political science, which include structural-functional approaches, methods of analysis and synthesis, classification and generalization. The authors conclude that protest performances in 2020 in Belarus led to a socio-political crisis and hit the legitimacy of the authorities of the republic. The way out of the crisis is possible through a constitutional reform that includes a new social contract. The organization and implementation of these changes can cause significant difficulties that can hinder the solution of the problem of the legitimacy of the authorities.
