Controversy of perception of anthropogenic impact within the circumpolar zone

The article analyzes social-economic aspects of human ecology problems in the circumpolar zone (on the example of Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous District) by mean of comparison of statistic data about ecological problems, statistic data about diseases, caused by ecological factors and subjective sociological estimates of protection from ecological threats. The authors have used government statistics, and large-scale socio-cultural results of monitoring conducted in the period from 2006 to 2013. The analysis revealed that level of sensitivity to ecological problems is one of the most significant factors, which form social general state of citizens of Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous District. The authors defined lack of correspondence of subjective perception of ecological threats to their objective state as a significant socio-psychological factor of ecological risk in the region. In conclusion they recommended some general measures, which increase socio-psychological ecologic consciousness and certain actions. It is necessary to gradually reveal the contradiction between the perception of environmental problems and the real state of affairs. Ecological improving literacy is among the priorities of the regional administration.
