In the paper the autobiographical novel "Kashcheeva tsep" ("Kashey's chain") by Michael Prishvin is analysed in terms of implementation of the local text of the native to the author city in it. The fact that the author uses some most significant in the semiotic respect dominants, which are peculiar identification markers of Yelets urban space, proves that the novel contains the local text. Two key dominants of the local text - "Yelets Orthodox" and "Yelets Merchant" - are not just reflected in the work, but function as plot producing contexts.

Autobiographical novel, art space, local text, image of location, orthodox archetype
