Mental disturbances in persons experiencing a disaster

Peculiarities of mental disorders and psychological response have been studied in inhabitants of village Kazachinsky of Krasnoyarsky Kray having suffered form the fire (70 persons, 45 women and 25 men). Disturbances of non-psychotic level have been revealed. Made known posttraumatic stress disorder constituted 6,1%. In the structure of psychopathological disturbances in men paranoiac symptoms predominated, in women - somatoform disorders. Men, more seldom than women presented complaints about mental health state, however, mental disturbances in them differed by more severity. Severity of psychopathological symptoms depended on not only material loss but on their age, experienced earlier psychotraumatic events, character of intrafamily relations. Destructive impact of experienced extreme crisis situation on social relations between people has been revealed.
