Mental health and quality of life of children suffering from bronchial asthma (literature review)

Objective of this review was to analyze and summarize papers of foreign and domestic authors, who evaluated the quality of life of children suffering from asthma. The definition of quality of life and relevance of study of quality of life of patients are presented, showing a methodology, tools and features of the study of quality of life in pediatric practice. Results of scientific work are introduced that allows estimating the nature of the dynamics of clinical manifestations against the background of drug therapy, the effectiveness of rehabilitation, educational cycles under the «Asthma-school» and also using as a component of disease monitoring and testing of new drugs. It is concluded that quality of life reflects various aspects of the state of health of the child. Systematic use of the indicator «quality of life» during treatment allows comprehensive assessing the effectiveness of treatment and, finely, improving quality of medical care for children with asthma.
