The article discusses the main psychological aspects of the convict’s personality that can be used in victimological prevention. The personality of the convicted person is one of the varieties of the criminal’s personality, which, in turn, is a kind of abstract model - a set of sociological and psychological characteristics that characterize criminals as a kind of social and psychological type, different from other types. Basically, the personality of the convicted person largely repeats the personality of the criminal as a whole. Indeed, those people who end up in correctional institutions cannot change completely. However, under the influence of a new environment, other criminals, their own experiences, the fact of isolation (especially long-term), attitudes and life goals, moral values and guidelines change, and hence the motives that represent the meaning of the corresponding actions. Accordingly, all behavior changes during the period of serving the sentence and after release. This especially applies to moral characteristics and value orientations, knowledge, skills, attitude to oneself and the world around us. The article analyzes these aspects in order to draw attention to the problem of resocialization of convicts and the relevance of research on their personal characteristics in order to prevent crimes committed by them.
