Cognitive psychology and criminal investigation

The article dwells upon the potential of psychological criminal profiling as of a cognitive method in criminal investigation. The author analyzes the content and interrelation of such concepts as "model", "portrait" and "profile". The findings of the research show that the methods of cognitive psychology should be considered a constituent of criminalistic theories, not simply a theoretical rationalization of the choice of criminalistic methods and investigative tactics.
