Psychological analysis of inconsistencies systems that are typical for a subject involved in sporting activity

The paper analyzes the problems and a number of inconsistencies which are typical for a subject involved in sporting activities. It should be pointed out that sporting activity is complex and contradictory in terms of the factors forming subjective personality traits. Sport contributes to a positive self-esteem; to the development of responsibility, internality, purposefulness, sociability, individual potential of self-regulation, resistance to stress. However, an increase of subject traits comes into a conflict with the requirements of the sport activity connected with intrapersonal and intergroup rivalry involving high competition, provoking a coach and society treat an athlete as a means of achieving a high result. The contradiction between the social role of an athlete and his personality creates the effect of a false subjectivity, when an athlete begins to treat himself as an object and means of maximal realization of resources. Inconsistencies in modern Russian society cause a deep dissonance between external and internal significantly complicate the process of self-identity. It is obvious that unformed moral and ethical standards, with the absence of stable ideals in a transformed society, support intrapersonal conflict. The results of empirical studies of athletes with different levels of sportsmanship are reported. Along with the positive effects of involvement in sporting activities, such negative phenomena, as: disharmony of world view, devaluation of traditions, a weak acceptance of universal values, negativism, with a high desire to achievement and stimuli are marked.
