The paper describes the theoretical and methodological foundations of psychological support of the individual in professional activity within the framework of various philosophical and psychological theories. The author reveals the ideas of humanistic psychology (G. Allport, A. Maslow, R. May, K. Rogers), the essence of the concepts of "readiness for activity", "attitude", "psychological attitude of an individual" as an indicator of readiness, "professionalism", "psychological preparation for professional activity", "professional identity". The importance of psychological support of the individual for conducting effective and safe work activities is explained.
