Marital conflicts Over the past decade, there have been a number of worrying trends indicating a crisis in the life of the family, affecting both marital and parental relations. These unfavourable trends are explained by the socio-economic conditions: the instability of the social system, the low material standard of living, the problems of professional employment in most regions of Russia, the transformation of the traditional role structure of the family and the distribution of role functions between spouses.
