Objective - study of psychosocial causes of low recognition and late diagnosis of cognitive disorders in persons of elder age. Necessity of research has been actualized by contradiction between high prevalence of Mnestic-intellectual disturbances in persons of elder age groups and their late diagnosis. Basic methods of research were sociometric, statistical ones. Results of research show irregular level of recognition of mental disorders in general population and among physicians of primary health care. Cognitive disturbances at elder age are oftener assessed by respondents as a variant of age norm what is defined as one of preconditions of low recognition of these disturbances.
