Tarabanovskaya E. A. Students examination in public being a component of inspection for the purpose of managing education in the early XIX century

The paper examined the managerial and procedural aspects of examination in public for secondary school leavers in Russia in the early XIX century. The study considered an impact (on the exam procedure) caused by local self-rule governments being illustrated by an Astrakhan province' experience. A review of historical sources has been carried out on the issue of supervision and monitoring within the educational management framework.
