A journey to the West ten thousand li long (international summer schools for young sinologists of 2015 in Saint-Petersburg and Ljubljana)

The article presents a short description of two international summer schools activities, which took place in Russia, Saint Petersburg (hosted by Saint Petersburg State University with the support of European Association for Chinese Studies) from August 24th till August 30th 2015 and in Slovenia, Ljubljana (hosted by the University of Ljubljana with the support of Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation) from September 2nd till September 9th. Young scholars from all over the world were invited to participate and collaborate during the events and also attend to lections, given by famous specialists. «Traditional China: a Closer Distant View» was the EACS summer school, procured as a preparation for 2016 EACS conference and «The Wei-Jin Nanbei Period and the Importance of Transition» was held as a courtesy from Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation to unite researchers, who are interested in that historical period. Saint Petersburg international summer school’s lectures were focused on a variety of topics: philosophy, art, sociology, international relationships, medieval and modern history of China and source studies. Ljubljana international summer school’s lectures were all linked to Wei-Jin Nanbeichao transition period and aimed to present a coherent account of the early medieval China situation through historical, philosophical, literature and archeological materials.
