Improvement of cardiosurgery service in the Siberian federal region (2002-2007)

The incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Russia increases every year. In the last 7 years of the current century the CCD growth increased by 40.7 % accounting for 2969.2 of 100000 people in 2007. In the same period the primary CCD morbidity among children of 15-17 years grew by 56.4 %. These figures in the Siberian Federal Region are even higher: in 2007 the growth among adults came to 3702 and among children - to 1746 of 100000 people. About 27 % of sick people are in need of surgical treatment. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the importance of innovative changes aimed at improving cardiosurgery service for the population of the Siberian Federal Region.
