Works of “Pavel Bure” company’s employees in “Livadia” estate in 1877-1879

The article highlights some episodes of the rich labor activity of the representatives of the firm “Pavel Bure”. In particular, the work performed by the masters of the firm to repair and replace clocks and clock mechanisms in the South Coast estate of the Empress “Livadia” in 1877-1879 on the eve of the forthcoming visits to the estate of representatives of the imperial family. The history of the enterprise up to the beginning of the XX century is briefly characterized. The reasons why the services of this company were used to repair clocks in the estate “Livadia” are noted. Also in the material there is information about the amount requested by the masters for the performance of the required amount of work. The article is replete with data on the working and living conditions of the watchmaker during his orders at the “Livadia” estate. Among other things, it characterizes the master's daily life and other interesting aspects of his residence and work at the estate. For instance, there is data on the materials used during the repair work and, in general, on the amount of work performed by the master during each of his business trips to the estate. In the final section, the article concludes with data on how the auction of unrepairable clocks and watch movements was organized.
