Slavery today: the voice of the past or a real threat?

Human trafficking, bonded (slave) labor - all this seems to have already gone to the past. However, this is the present that such an institution not only determines the life of a huge number of people on the planet, but also affects many economic, social and political processes in the countries traditionally considered “adherents of democracy”. The everyday life of many people living in these states is to some extent confronted with this “legacy of the past”. Not only in developing countries, but also in the states that are among the most advanced in socio-economic and political terms, the need to repay person's debts often leads to complete dependence or actual slavery, that is, enslavement. Sometimes fragmentation of family ties pushes a burnt-out person to the point beyond which he becomes a victim of today's widespread criminal business, which has received such international legal qualifications as “human trafficking”. Therefore, the problem of combating human trafficking makes raise alarm and calls upon all members of the world community to take measures to end this phenomenon, which is unworthy of the slightest mention, except in the pages of history textbooks.
