"Rational" suicide: decision-making under conditions of uncertainty

The author of the article proposes to consider such a problem as the rationality of suicide, and, in particular, such an important aspect as making decisions about suicide in conditions of uncertainty, uncertainty of the near and distant future. This work is based on two examples from the articles of foreign researchers: a bedridden sculptor and a healthy woman of fifty years, whose beliefs were influenced by certain philosophical theories. Both heroes believe that the most rational solution in their situations is suicide. The author, based on the lecture of philosophy Professor Shelly Kagan, concludes that it is impossible to talk about the rationality of suicide without considering ethical, moral, theological issues.
