Health risks of medical radiation exposure

Бесплатный доступ

Because of fast growing medical radiation use, estimating possible late health effects of radiation including additional cancer cases becomes a problem of great importance. Since the physician makes a final decision to perform a radiological procedure, it is very important to provide him with objective information about possible radiation-associated risks for every patient. Developed on the basis of ICRP model (Publication 103) universal epidemiological tables for evaluation of radiation-associated risks by taking into account individual features of a patient are presented in the article. Example of evaluation of radiation-associated risks during planning computed tomography examination is presented as well.
