"ROSTA radio newspaper" as a mechanism of power communication in the media space of the 1920s

The First World War and The Civil War, The Revolution and the Bolsheviks’ state transformations in the 1917-1920s led to the need of channels’ creation for wide broadcasting using radio-electronic equipment. The first experience was the appearance of radio in Russia, and then the radio newspaper as a prototype of mass media. In the paper the structure of «Radio newspaper called ROSTA» of 1925-1929 is revealed as well as semantic and lexical features of texts are analyzed and radio broadcasts are characterized as a mechanism of political communication aimed at forming a positive image of power and new perception of the world. The research is conducted with the help of historical, socio-cultural and semiotic-hermeneutic analysis of the radio newspaper’s content. Also the difference between radio newspapers and printed ones was revealed. In the end of the paper the conclusion about the nature, the purpose and the functionality of radio newspapers was made.
