Radioecological situation in the vicinity of the former uranium processing plant Almaz

Areas adjacent to facilities for mining and processing of radioactive raw materials are subject to pollution with heavy natural radionuclides. Decision-making on the need for remediation measures is to be based on radioecological studies. The present paper presents results from the evaluation of the ecological situation in the area affected by radioactive contamination during the operation of the uranium mining and processing facility, LPA Almaz. Sites have been identified with the elevated radionuclide content in components of natural ecosystems.
