Mortality from carcinoma of lung during 27 years by the workers involved into plutonium production was analyzed. It was established that cases of mortality from carcinomas of lungs became more frequent 20 years after starting the work in this production and depended mainly on value of the total absorbed dose in lungs performed by incorporated 239Pu. Additional factors influencing morbidity with carcinoma of lung were an external gamma-radiation, harmful factors of chemical nature and previous chronic diseases of respiratory organs. Maximum permissible radiation dose on lungs for the staff (15 rem/year) accepted at the present time is demonstrated to be not safe.
