Early Pleistocene large flake industry of the Northeast Caucasus: stadial status

The paper provides substantiation for identification of the Early Pleistocene large flake industry in the Northeast Caucasus. Comparing the materials from Central Dagestan of the relevant period with the implements of local typical Oldowan and the Early Acheulean industries in Africa and Southern Europe, the authors come to the conclusion that a culture with characteristics transitional between the Oldowan and the Early Acheulean existed in the region in question.
