Early preventive mastectomy as one of the methods of prevention of breast tumors in cats

As a result of the analysis of scientific literature on oncologic diseases among partner pets and of our own clinical studies, performed for several years, it has been established that the frequency of oncologic diseases registration among cats accounts for more than 40% of all the cases of diseases with non-infectious etiology, among which breast tumor in various stages amounts to 64%. On the basis of the obtained data it can concluded that oncologic diseases are rather widespread among cats. According to histopathologycal features the most frequent breast tumor is adenocarcinoma, whose ratio is 65% of all the cases. Carcinoma was registered in 25% of the cases, adenoma and fibrous adenoma in 5% of the cases each. During the analysis of data on animals with breast tumor it has been noted that the most likely age range is from 5 to 10 years old and that the occurrence of breast oncologic pathology becomes increasingly likely with aging. In animals older than 10-12 years old breast tumor is registered even in case of timely ovariectomy...
