Early productivity and marketability of potatoes under the conditions of the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia

The article presents the results of research on potato varieties of different maturity groups cultivated on chernozem soils under the conditions of the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia in 2016-2018. The aim of the research is the identification of early-ripening potato genotypes on the basis of variety collection studies. As for early productivity the following varieties stood out according to their average over 3 years: Udacha, Rozara, Zhukovskiy ranniy and Alyona (680, 582, 557 and 525 g/plant, respectively, 70 days after planting). A significant ratio as regards early productivity in the early-ripening variety group in relation to the midseason-ripening group has been established: the average yield over 3 years amounted to 545 and 407 g/plant. The lower early yield in the midseason-ripening variety group can be related to a later yield formation and accumulation than in early-ripening varieties due to their biological features.
