World defense costs: direction for reduction

The combination of the pandemic and the economic consequences of quarantine measures introduced to contain it against the backdrop of the oil price war led to the need for a radical review of the state of public finances. On the one hand, now that the government is forced to seek financial resources for multi-million payments to support the population and business, the cost of acquiring military products is no longer a priority. On the other hand, the armed forces are used to assist doctors, disinfect civilian facilities and ensure security in a separate area on a 24-hour basis. The country's highest governing bodies have a natural question: what to do with the costs of national defense in this situation. The article attempts to summarize international experience on this issue.
