Distribution of China in higher education institutions of the Russian Far East in the second half of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century

This article is the first attempt in Russian historiography to consider the spread of university Sinology in the Far East in the past few decades and emphasize the objective conditionality of this process. The main elements of the article’s source base were the documents of the State Archive of Primorsky Krai, the Russian State Historical Archive, the FEFU Current Archive, the university periodical, and interviews with leading Chinese Far Eastern scholars. Some historical sources were first put into scientific circulation. The authors established three stages in the spread of university Sinology in the east of the country (in 1962 - late 1980s, in the late 1980s - mid 2000s; in the mid 2000s - late 2010s), revealed their features, showed the role played by the departments of the Chinese language and the departments of Sinology, their leaders, Russian and Chinese teachers in the preparation of students.
