In examining 2280 young people (first year students) a high level of normal arterial pressure (AP) corresponding to prehypertensive condition was found in 25,4%, arterial hypertension (AH) being registered in 20,3% that proved a high incidence of hypertensive conditions in young people. Four risk factors of cardiovascular diseases were revealed in 7% of young boys and girls with prehypertension, while in the group of AH the number of young men having 3 and more risk factors was 18,3%. The combination of smoking, alcohol intake and poor physical activity was the most frequently occurring risk factors. The correction of modified risk factors in the process of a 3-year dynamic monitoring resulted in decreasing the arterial pressure up to the normal levels and up to the high levels of normal AP in 44,8% of young people with diagnosed AH, it contributing to decreasing AP to normal and optimal levels in 68% of people with prehypertension.
